Carolina Romo is a Chicana mixed media artist. She creates works that revolve around identity and her experiences within Mexican American culture. By incorporating materials found on the streets of her neighborhood, Carolina also adds an ecological critique through the use of plastic, making us reflect on its normalization and waste.
Her work uses vivid colors, along with a variety of patterns, meant to consume the audience, to fall within its gaze. Conceptually taking a critical view of her identity and position within society, she creates a series of hieroglyphics hidden in her work.
